RE: {Chrysler 300} Break job

Elaina-

Brake work, especially conversions or the use of non-factory specified parts requires expertise that the folks you are dealing with evidently do not have. To let a car out of a shop with a pedal that goes to the floor is to disqualify that shop from any sort of work beyond prying burnt toast from a toaster while plugged in.

The original master cylinder bore diameter and piston travel is matched to the brake wheel cylinder diameters along with a calculation on the throw of the brake pedal arm. These, combined with drum or disk diameter and friction coefficients of the brake pad or shoe material, the vacuum assist provided by the power booster and the weight of the car determine how well it will stop. All of this mostly mathematical analysis was carefully considered by Chrysler when the car was designed.

Elaina, you need to try harder to find qualified people to work on your car. The master cylinder that belongs on your car is usually in stock at Advance, AutoZone or O'Reilly. Why did this fellow decide to install a "Wildwood" Master? Tells me he gets an F.

Subject: {Chrysler 300} Break job

Hello, I have a question… I just got my breaks done on my 67 Chrysler 300 convertible, very large heavy car. He put a wilwood master cylinder under the hood and new hoses. My breaks are almost hitting the floor when I stop the car! Softly go all the way down. It doesn’t feel right.
Please tell me I’m not crazy!
