Hi all,

About 30 years ago, I had the tranny cable on my 1956 Dodge start to leak.   Simple fix:  I smeared Chrysler "black rubber in a tube" about 18" up the tube and slipped on heat shrink tubing.  Heated the tubing and haven't had one drop of leakage since.

Hello All,

Has anyone tried heat shrinkable tubing to fix leaks in transmission cables?  Comments?

Thank you,

i second these guys , i have used for 5 years , any kind of control cable .
I don’t  like look of key hole in trunk of F (crude ,  brutal ) plus often forced etc in history of car and key mechanism screws up too .
i had cable made with nice looking pull trigger inside car in lower corner   of rear driver side  seat panel , filled key  hole crooks can’t force with big screwdriver .
first class stuff all the way , did this 3 times .
might be a good source for an improved hood release for F using their top shelf stranded SS pull wire . ? repro committee ?

Here's a Facebook posting by a Lee Meyer, K Ram owner, that may be of interest -

I recently was dreading getting transmission cables replaced or rebuilt for my 300 Ram K. I am pretty tired of the small amount of vendors that sell or rebuild parts for these old mopars, because of costs, poor quality, waiting years for things etc. So, a friend of mine who is a race car guy recommended this company in Santa Fe Springs CA that make control cables for race cars, boats and whatever. I sent them my shifter and park cables and the guy says no sweat. ONE WEEK later i had my new cables and they are spot on perfect better than factory by a mile. Pretty much an impossible feat for these chryslers. So, tell the other guys (you all know who they are) to pack sand and call these dudes. Control Cables Inc 562-949-0455 www.controlcables.com
