Re: {Chrysler 300} chrome plater

All my plating has been done by AIH.
Have not had anything don recently though.
I am happy with what they have done.
Again, they are not cheap though.

Dan -
There is a process called vacuum metalizing that was/is typically used to chrome plastic materials.  For example, the plastic dash panel inset on my 1967 442 has chrome trim around the perimeter, instrument pods, and other accessories that provide visual contrast with the argent silver finish elsewhere on the panel.  This was also done on many other makes and models for decades.  There was an outfit in Canada that did wonderful work but I believe they went out of business quite some time ago.  Check on the internet.

My 300H rear bumper is with AIH out of Dubuque IA…while my personal outcomes are TBD, I’ve seen examples of their work and subscribe to the owners philosophy for quality plating and what is required (in business for 50 years).  Other club members in the area may be able to comment on their product.

Hi all,

Years ago I wanted to rechrome the side bezels on my F.  One of my wifes' business associates from Japan was visiting our home.  He was a big wig at Fugitsu.  He offered to take my bezels to Japan and have Fugitsu's plating department rechrome them.  I agreed.  When he returned them to me he said that they will never corrode again.  The secret is that both bezels were placed in a vacuum during the rechroming process.  So far so good.

Does anyone know if someone in this country uses vacuum for rechroming?

Hi Bob, Sherm's plating in Sacramento is the best. They don't loose parts or destroy pot metal.
I owned a plating shop and it takes a high skill level to get a good finish on pot metal. Good luck.

I’m looking for contact information on a chrome plater mentioned on the list a while back, I believe they were in Wisconsin.  I’d appreciate information on that plater or any that have done pot metal parts, I’ve got a pair of tail light housings I need to get done.

Thanks!
