Re: {Chrysler 300} 4 speed 300F convertible for sale - And our Fall 2025 Buffalo Meet -

Time, and inflation, have taken their toll.  I think I still have the copies of the various Brute Force magazines from back in the early 80's when stories of the 'Cone-Hoover' convertible, the Granatelli twin-Paxton F, and the 'Andy Drum' (I think that was his name) black and white car with the non-spare tire trunk lid were published.  At the time, it was all I could do to scrape together a down payment on a $62K starter home/fixer upper in the suburbs of Boston, so $16K for any 'hobby car' was totally out of the question.  I thought I was pushing the envelope back then when I bought a $49 ticket to Pensacola, Florida to drive back a pristine, low mileage, 63 Plymouth Fury equipped with factory A/C and a 361 Commando engine for $2K.  ;-)   It served as my 'car show future collectible' until 1986 when I had saved up enough to buy my first letter car, a nicely restored G coupe from Denver, for the princely sum of $6K.  It was a great drive back to the Boston area in that car.
I'll be going to the cars and coffee Saturday morning event tomorrow in the G convertible that I was fortunate to acquire in 1998.  It's a little tough to wrap my head around the reality that my then 27 year old 'dream car' is now 64 years old, and the relatively young 40-something year old who I was at the time of purchase has already had a 70th birthday.  Yikes!  The car is aging better than the owner/driver.

Following these listserver comments re the sole P-a-M 4-speed 300-F convertible - reminding me of stories our friend Joe Jordan has shared with me and fellow members about his experiences with this 4-speed F convertible, including his going with George Cone to pick it up in Wisconsin on a snowy winter night. Joe's said that he likely drove this car more under George's watch than George did. I unfortunately joined our 300 Club after George had passed, so never had the honor of meeting him, but did meet his son a few years ago at our local MCACN show near O'Hare.

Send in your Registration Form and join us at our Buffalo Meet. Joe will join us there for the official unveiling of his twin Paxton supercharged 413 Andy Granatelli Tribute 300-F coupe. You'll have the incredible opportunity to see and hear Joe's remarkable Tribute F, but also to visit with him and listen to his many stories about this F convertible, that 82-yr-old Joe Aluise currently appears to be marketing.

Eye candy fer sure!  I may have posted these photos sometime in the past on the listserver, but maybe for benefit of newer members, here is the car as it appeared in 1982 when I first saw it and it was owned by Bruce Hoover and George Cone in Illinois.  This was at the AACA show at Allstate Insurance headquarters in Deerfield, IL on June 5, 1982.  They had a Chrysler 300 letter car class.  My dad took the photos using slide film. The car was consigned for sale to Volo Museum not long after; I think the asking price was around $16,000.  Top dollar then believe it or not, laughable now.  Times have changed, inflation has taken its bite, and the car became valuable.
