My G convert was a pretty low-mileage original white car when I found it, and the core support was nowhere near as nicely and completely painted as the one shown in the pictures. It appeared as though an assembly person on the line just reached in through the grill opening and sprayed enough black paint on the front facing part of the core support to conceal it from being seen behind the grill.

I have left it that way as it appears to be the way it came originally. YMMV?
