I assume you are asking about the 62? No you don't have to remove the intake. Might run into a clearance issue. Removing a bolt will solve the problem.

The shop manual seems confident in being able to remove the lifters with said tool….

After pulling the valve covers, rocker arms & pushrods.

Simple enough to also replace the lifters with the same tool the same way?

Or, am I a fool to think so and will need to remove the Intake?
