This is were die hard, brand loyal car guys differ from hot rodders. And
believe me there is a big difference. In hot rodding there are no rules,
whatever makes you feel good. It wouldn't stop me from buying a 62 Dart
with a chevy motor in it, how long does it take to pull a motor and
transmission out of the car and drop SB and/or BB in it?
I personally wouldn't do that to one of our belove Mopar's, but in reality
there is no difference between that and taking the original engine out and
putting in a bigger B/RB motor. The purist in our crowd probably cringes
everytime they see us do that to one of the 62 to 65s.
My whole take on this is that the 62 Dart got saved and my some day have
corrected surgery to put it back whole.
OK guys jump in, the water is about to warm up? :-) Dennis
My 2 cents is that off-branding the Mopar powerplant hurts resale value
of the vehicle. For example, put a 350 Chebby powertrain in a '62 Dart
and try to sell it! You've alienated the Mopar buyer, and the Chebby
buyer would not comprehend the Mopar.
