Neal, sounds like a good price to me. If he is a proven machinest then that
is a huge hurdle to overcome right from the start. I paid close to 1500 for
my block work and it did not include anything to do with my rods (which were
brand new Eagles). So the work that he is planning on doing seems like a good
price.
As far as getting what you want. I went round and round with the
machinest that was doing my work. He swore that my combination and other parts that I
wanted to use were not right. It finally got to the point that the owner of
the shop interceaded and told his machinest to back off. The motor is a monster
and I am happy as hell with what I came out with. Couldnt be more pleased.
