My understanding on the 72 Chargers is that no Hemi cars were produced, and
to date none have ever been verified as being correct. From speaking with
Galen on the 72 Chargers (I own a 72 Rallye Charger 440-4 speed Dana 60 original
car. Supposedly two 440-6 pack Chargers both believed to be Rallye Chargers
escaped the factory. I know where one of the survivors was located in
Missouri, and Galen had actually examined it for authenticity. The biggest engine
combination was supposed to have been the 440 magnum equipped with a 4 speed.
Of the 440-4 speed cars, 165 produced is what is recorded. Secondly was the
440 with automatic of which shows numbers of 620. So was there ever a 1972
Charger to ever escape with a Hemi equipped from the factory? According to the
records "NO." Is it a possibility??? Always...One thing I have learned over the
years with Chrysler is....NEVER SAY NEVER... Cars have shown up and have
been examined by the best known experts in the field that supposedly were never
built, or ever shown on record to have been built. Anything is always
possible.
