I've been using the Mopar electronic ignition system on all 3 of my big
block engines. I've had some problems with both the distributor and the
orange box, but at least replacement parts are readily available. I'm
currently having a '68 Charger restored to stock and I'd like to use
electronic ignition, but I don't want to have the orange box under the
hood. I asked my restorer to hide it under the dash so the engine
compartment would look correct. He suggested that I consider using a
Pertronics unit that mounts inside the distributor to keep the stock
look. I did that on a '64 Corvette after these units first came out.
It ran fine, but I didn't drive it enough to know if the units are
reliable. Is anyone on the list using one of these Pertronics units in
their Mopar distributor? If so, I'd appreciate hearing your feedback
off line. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer...Brian
