I have heard stories of flex fans breaking but I can tell you I have used
some of them since the 70's with never a problem. But I check mine every
oil change and look at the blades and rivets to make sure no blades are
cracked and no rivets loose. I have one on my 63 and a factory one on my
sons Dart. Both are 11 second street cars and the one on my boys Dart has
been on it since 1997. We just put the heads back on and checked the fan.
It still looks good. Ron

Well, as long as their aftermarket I guess they'll be ok. You have to be
careful revving up those steel stock pieces though, the blades are rather
heavy. I'd be more afraid of those than the flex fans. The aftermarket
ones I'm not familiar with but I'm sure their safer since they're lighter.
The questions is how much air they suck at low and high speeds. Unless
they flex it could be good or bad.

Thanks to everyone who replied to my question! While testing some fixed
factory fans, I discovered something interesting. When the blades are
evenly spaced, the fan roars like a blast furnace at higher RPM. When
one or more blades are offset, it is very quiet. Now I know why they
staggered them!
Any downside to fixed, aftermarket aluminum fans?
