The ballast resistor is used to raise the voltage while cranking the engine,
and lowering it while running,,,,,,,,,,,my recomendations would be to
convert the ign. system to a later modes ecu unit, this can be easily done with
used part from the junk yard, or the purchase of new from your local parts store
