I'm still a little confused on how to interpret the radiator support
and trunk stamping. My 63 Polara has "M 37 1" very clearly stamped on
the radiator support. But the fender tag says:
1001 0341 642 655 MM1
and there's nothing in my VIN that would suggest a "37".
Thanks.

That number is the Shipping Order Number that also appears on the data

on the driver's side inner fender.
It is usually prefixed by a code for the assembly plant and model year.
The
VIN was not stamped on unibody cars prior to 1968.

Subject: VIN / trunk stamping?
Can someone tell me how to decode the 5 digit stamp that's on the
radiator core and on the trunk lip under the weather stripping?
Thanks in advance.
