I don't think either plan will work. If you take the dash panel off
you'll see that all of the buttons have different bends in the part
behind the panel to get them to the right spot on the shift mechanism.
I think Mopar used the same shift mechanism for different models and
then made buttons to fit for the different dash layouts.
