Heh heh, there were experimental OHV engines from the early 1900s, but the 1949 Olds Rocket 88 predated the Chebby.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oldsmobile_V8_engine

My favorite is the Chrysler FirePower engine (1951), with OHV pushrods too. :)
