Pop hot rod mag ran a comparo of the 350ish engines for about 4-5 years in that era. It was the 351 Ford, 350 Chev, 350 Pont, 350 Olds and the 340. The 340 came out waaay on top every year. It was hugely underrated. I still have those mag's too.

I too said similar things about the "340's" back then when they kicked my 335hp 383 just about every time I had to run one of those lil "under-estimated HP suckers" lol 275HP my a$$ lol
