| Don, I have thought about those "tunnel" oil pans, but
wouldn't  oil be trapped behind the tunnel when changng oil? I have a stock
looking oil pan 6 quart, and my cross link touches the bottom of the pan. Befor
e I put any miles on my 64 Dodge B body, I am going to put spacers in the engine
mounts.......................MO

  dodge dart with a 360?

--John, I offer some speculation and a little
hope.
 Would
not a period correct 273/318 poly oil pan work on a 360? Is the 62 pan the
same as a '65? The hope is that I still have the oil pan from my wedge 318 '65
in the attic of the car house. This is a 35 year old "Charlie's" oil pan that
has a tunnel for the cross-link.
 I'll
scrounge around up in the attic today and see if I can find
  it.    Akron Don Gallimore

 Subject: what
oil pan to use in a 62 dodge dart with a 360?

HI all,   I dont post very much.  I tend to hang in the background and
content myself with reading about everyone else's adventures.  However,
I am in need of some advice, and am hoping someone else has been down the
path I'm going and can help me out.  I have a 62 dart 440, originally a
    318 car, now with a mild 440, 65 pushbutton 727, and an 8.75 rear with 3.91
gears and a detroit locker.  This has been my weekly race car for the
last 10 years or so, running in the low 12's.  But the 440 is getting a
little tired and I want to make some changes.  I never really did all
that well with the car since I put the 440 in it.  My previous race car
had a mild 360 in it, and both me and the car were deadly with that
combination.  So, to make a short story long, I decided to go back to
what worked for me in the past.  I picked up and eagle steel crank and
a set of H beam rods for 360, and then a couple months later landed a set of
edelbrock small bock heads and a performer rpm air gap intake for a price I
couldnt refuse.  So I decided to try and build a low 12 second small
block for the car.  I got motor mounts from schumacher.  What I
never considered, and have only just started to think about, is what oil pan
do I need to use for this application?  I'd like to run a pan with a
little more capacity than stock - like a 7 quart oil pan instead of the
factory 4.5 to 5 quart pan.  I know on the early mopars, the engine
sits a little further front in relation to the K frame than on the later
mopars.  What I need to know is, does a stock oil pan fit in a 62
dodge, and if so, then what Milodon or Moroso oil pan do I want to use to
get the increased capacity?  When I tried looking at their web sites,
they were kind of vague - descriptions like, this pan fits most popular
applications......With the big block, Milodon makes a pan specifically
for the 62 dodge, but they dont say anything about the small block
pans. Any help or experience you're willing to share would be greatly
appreciated.   Thanks, JohnP -- -- -- Please address private email --
