I guess I'm lucky I've always had a knack for sharpening drill bits. Here goes... true up your grinder stone, there are tools to do this with-made of cast iron with funky star wheels that you lightly run across the stone, soon it will be flat and true. Take a new bit and hold it to the stone {with the grinder turned off} note the angle and practice the movement neccesary to keep the bit in full contact with the stone.Take a dull bit and try to mimic the new bit, angle wise and the face should taper back slightly, keep the flutes on the center and try it.Don't go too fast or you will ruin the temper of the bit.Best way is to buy good bits to start with and don't abuse them, use cutting oil and don't over speed them, the larger the diameter, the slower the rotation of the drill.Good luck Neal, wear your safety goggles,Stan GF,MT
