some questions about 63 and 64 wiper motors

   How can I tell wether the wiper motor sitting on my bench is one 
   speed, two speed ,  etc?? 
    Secondly what about the switches, any way to ID those easily??
    Thirdly, what would happen if they were mismatched, say a multi
    speed motor and a one speed switch , for instance .
     Still trying to figure out this darn wiper/ alt. gauge  problem,
     about ready to start cussin!!!
