I read somewhere that the 1968 383 V8 engine VIN is stamped on the 
driver's side upper rear of the block and 1969 383 V8 engine VIN is 
stamped on the bottom of the block right above the oil pan near the 
engine mount. Can't verify if that is correct, though.
