I took a hammer to that little crack, gave it a whack and it opened
right up. then i noticed a little one on the opposite side of the valley
in exactly the same spot. another whack and it broke in the exact same
pattern as the first. Must be a problem in that spot with the 400s.My
guess is the engine froze at some time ( before I got it) and cracked
the block. The freeze plugs at those spots were missing too. Better luck
with my other block hopefully.
