If you are looking for cheap, I just saw an ad from PAW in the December Mopar Muscle magazine ... 440 unassembled short block for $1,995 and long block for $2,495. Don't know about the quality, but it seems that it would be worth looking into ...

One of the magazines used the PAW motor for a project or dyno test about 3 or 4 years ago, but I can't remember which one. It was a success though. But if you don't mind assembling one, this isn't much more than the parts and machine work to build a 440 and includes the block, crank, etc in the price.
