Schuyler,
I just went out and measured my '64 Belvedere and it was the same.  I 
also measured the '70 Road Runner rear end that I'm installing in the 
Belvedere now, and it measured the same 46 1/2".  I've been told that 
'65 - '70 rear ends were all the same width.  They are 1" narrower from 
the outside of the drum to the outside of the opposite drum, when 
compared to the tapered axle types used in the earlier models...Brian
