you don't need to get rid of the vacuum advance on a stock or mild engine.  
in fact you are probably better off with it. i have 2 cars (69 coronet r/t, and 
 a 65 coronet), both with 440 6-paks, with mods, and i run vacuum  
distributors. i used to be of the mind set that all performance engines need  full 
centrifugal distributors, but that assumption is not necessarily fact. its  a lot 
easier to convert to full centrifugal and a little more work to modify  vaccuum 
distributors. i want my cake and eat it too and a modified vacuum works  quit 
well for me.
