Re: ignition harness/wiring diagrams

right but the connectors aren't factory looking are they?. You can't just buy the bulkhead connectors. I mean the wires are all pressed in there with special little connectors. Am I mistaken?

That's the way I did mine.  I labeled every wire, took pictures of critical areas, removed the old wiring and laid it out on a sheet of plywood.  I bought good quality connectors and took the time to solder each one.  I also did the MAD electric ammeter mod. at the same time.

Hi Neal! Sure, you could check around, but the ignition circuit-  key on to ballast resistor, ballast to coil, key/ start position directly to other end ballast  & to starter solenoid; coil to points Distributor or  ECU. ( See Wiring diagrams for 4 pin or 5 pin ECUs. ECU  to Distributor ).

This total circuit is among the most basic 'total circuit' in a MOPAR.

You can go to Amazon or Harbor Fright and buy a complete set of various size wires and connectors and some ectricL tape for $20-$45 and build the harness yourself.

You will learn a lot and any troubleshooting in the future would be ' a piece of cake' as they say, because will be intimately familiar with the circuit!

Hi all, I have a good question for you.  I have decided I am going to replace the engine ignition wiring harness in my coronet, it's pretty crispy crunchy. Classic industries has the harness for about $129.00. Not too bad I guess.
Unfortunately  I can't find one for the small block cars and they are back ordered indefinitely.  BUT they have a bunch of big block ones. Wouldn't the only difference be in the length because of front versus rear distributor location? Seems like everything else would be the same. Would the wire colors be the same too?
Seems I could just buy the big block harness  and use some zip ties to shorten up the wires, and then when and if I put in a big block just unzip it and voila!
   Thanks, Neal
