Larry,

As I said before and as you have experienced, the Poly is a great “do all things well” Mopar powerplant.  I am “finally” making progress on my Poly Stroker and doing the detail and final hook-up work now.  Attached some pictures of my 600HP Poly.

Right on Larry.  I have been talking to Neal on other parts needs but he does has a 383 in the wings.  If the 383 is road worthy it would be a powerful swap but needs the big block trans and some other changes…most likely driveshaft length needs to be checked.

But yes, the Poly build with stock stroke and hotter cam & HP Carb setup is quite impressive and of course more HP & TQ is very simple and not inordinately expensive.  I have all the build sheets to suit all power levels and I send them out freely so people don’t pay more than they should to “experts” or shops making margin.

I agree..  The Poly can be made to "wake-up" and Mopar and most non-Mopar folks think it is a Big Block Motor.  I used a hotter cam from Gary P in my 64 Fury Convertible, and a 4bbl intake and it really moves out, and looks phenomenal.  If you are just going from a small-block Mopar to another, consider keeping the Poly.  lots of parts transfer between LA and Poly engines.

I see Jay has that process covered. :)

You also may do a cost / labor comparison with sticking with the Poly in there. I've been at several shows over the years

where the spectators are bug-eyed looking at the Poly 318. They never saw one before! :)

Lastly, factor in the end goal for the '65. Daily driver? Racer? Show car? etc.

Thanks,

Gary H.
