My memory is that the 1969 K member will bolt in your 1965 B-body and also make the engine sit about 1 1/2 inches closer to the firewall. Back in the day "Very Serious Drag Racers" swapped in the later years K to get a competitive advantage on weight transfer / traction.   

By the way, about rear springs: 

1965 to 1979 B-body cars used 22" front  36" rear so  58" total.

BUT!

Some 1965 B-body cars (early 1965?) used the same springs as a 1964 B-body.

21" front 35" rear so  56" total.
