Recently some lucky person bought this 9,800-Mile 1962 Dodge Polara 500 Coca-Cola Giveaway Car for $26,500.
The background story is fun too. There was "... a statewide Summer Fun Sweepstakes sponsored by The Coca-Cola Bottlers of South Carolina during the summer of 1962. Following a drawing that was held on July 10 of that year, a Mrs. J.H. Howard of Greeneville was announced as the winner. The car was delivered new through Hampton Motors of Columbia to Mrs. Howard, who at the time was 65 years of age and did not drive or have a license. She subsequently went to driving school, obtained a license, and drove the car regularly until the time of her passing in 1983, accumulating approximately 9,600 miles in the process. It was then held for a short time by a local collector before being acquired by the seller's husband in 1986...."
