Better find a different tranny shop. If you pull and install you should be able to get it rebuilt for under 500. I can do one for a bout 350 to 450 not counting the converter.

If you can handle the job, I'd look for a good used tranny. If you can't
find one, check other transmission shops...I think 1k is HIGH for a
rebuild, but then I haven't had one rebuilt for a long time.
