It was late 64.I saw the car, and begged him to buy it.
It was ordered at AC Hickman Dodge in Port Arthur,Texas.
I don't think a dark blue car was ever built.
I never saw one.
He ordered a 4 speed in the car.
At that time, it had to be a 4 speed on the street.
The automatics just didn't have the same appeal amongst the younger set.

He ended buying a new, navy blue 64 Dodge 440 with a 383, 4 speed, and a lighter blue interior.
It was sitting on the lot at Holley Dodge in Beaumont, Texas.

The Hemi was sold in the early 70's by a guy that bought it new, to a shop in Pasadena,Texas. He, and his wife had a baby on the way, and needed something more practical for the family.
They campainged it as a racer for many years.
I have no idea what finally became of it.

Not so.
My brother-in -law ordered one.I remember it well.
He ordered a navy blue car.
When it arrived at the dealership, it was the wrong color ( beige), so
he declined.
I recemntly ran into the guy that ended up buying the car, new.
Neiither were "VIP's", by any stretch of imagination.

As far as I know there were never any Hemis 1964 sold to the general

public.

They all were for race use only. If any got out of Detroit it would have
been thru the vip's at the plant. The service bulletin No. 64-73 came out
May 12 1964 with all the specs. for the dealers. It was available in 12.5
to 1 only with 2 4bbl afbs 3861S or Holley 4160/ 3116. Any that you see at
shows can be check as to the build date. Dave O
