Here is the information for your computer on my Dart GT and 56 Ply; by the way, could you plug in the difference between a large and small cam profile to see which is better for my package on the stroker Poly?

1956 Plymouth:
Car weight - with your butt in it.;  3700lbs.
Rear tire size w/ rubber on the ground, and Dia..tread pattern- how many
grooves:  BFG Drag Radial pattern, 7.6" tread width, 26.1" diameter.
Dia of front tire for roll out - 27.3 diameter
Cubic inch Displacement -  402"
904 - gear ratios - both numbers for first gear; 727 has 2.45 in first.
Rear end ratio - 3.73 or 4.10
Altitude at your local track- sea level and 2500ft.
Torque Converter Stall. - 3800stall

1967 Dart GT:
Car weight - with your butt in it..

I agree with Gary, 904's are great transmissions, but FYI the
727 would be a bolt in. No mods required to swap the two.
Some day I am going to sit Gary down at the computer and show
him how the low gear set cost you ET most of the time. It feels
good on your butt, but it is not the ET builder everyone thinks
is it. I just won this battle with Dynamic...

I am making preparations to swap in a 340 for a slant 6 in my 65 Dart wagon. I hadn't give much thought about the transmission until I starting inventoring what I have on hand (2 LA 727s and 2 LA 904s). Since early A Bodies only came with 904s, I'm assuming a 727 won't fit without doing some mods to the body. The 904s I have on hand are a 71 (needs rebuilding) and an 83 (nice running). Both were behind 318s. I would guess the 83 is a lockup. Any pros or cons on using the 83 transmission behind a somewhat warmer than stock 340? Or would I be better off getting the 71 rebuilt to HD specs. Unfortunately all we have around here is one AAMCO type rebuilder and one independent, so I'm suspect it would have to be sent off somewhere to do the job right. I'm in the mid-Atlantic area about 80 miles from DC. Thanks for any guidance, ideas help, etc you can provide. Don [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
