I just had to change the status of my 64 Sport Fury from project to parts
car. It too had rust in floorboard, cowl, bottom of back window, + more in
places. The more I disassembled it, the more heart broken I was. Keep in
mind that anything can be repaired if you put enough time & money into it. I
decided to cut my losses, use the Sport Fury for parts, and find the most
solid car I can find. I'm still looking.
I guess you have to ask yourself how much money can you afford to put in
it? In my case, I would have had to put more into it (much more) than the
car would be worth. Not for me!

Where do you draw the line -- when does a car go from restorable to just a
parts car?

I've been approached by someone who is selling a '64 with rust in the cowl
and around the back window. The front floor pans, the hood and trunk are
also rusted. However, it is a numbers matching, all original car with a
426.

I know rust is expensive to repair, but is this car worth restoring?

Thanks,
Doug
