Canadian Dodges, generally, used Plymouth dashboards to 1966 and interiors
to 1971. The 1961 Canadian Dart and Plymouth used the Plymouth dash with
Dart upholstery and door panels. The 1962 models used Dart dash and
interiors complete with fratzog even on Plymouths. The 1965 Polara 880 and
Monaco used Fury III and Sport Fury seats, respectively, but used U.S. Dodge
Custom 880 door panels.

Mechanically they were very similar to American Plymouths as transmission
and axles all came from the U.S. As for engines, the 313 poly V8 was used
from 1958 to 1964. The slant six engine from 1962 to 1966 used a Prestolite
direct drive starter instead of the Chrysler reduction gear unit. This also
affected the ring gear / torque converter on these models as the tooth count
differs for each application. And the starter solenoid and wiring is
different as on the Prestolite the solenoid mounts on the starter but it is
on the firewall or inner fender for the Chrysler starter.

Exterior trim was the same as in the U.S. except for the C-body Dodges from
1965 through 1970. As the Canadian Dodges were priced against the Plymouth
Fury, the series matched the Fury line up and used various pieces of Polara
trim for each series.

Neither the Sport Fury nor the Polara 500 was built in Canada through
mid-1964. But, you could get the Polara 500 seats in the 1962 Plymouth Fury
or Dart 440, and the Sport Fury seats in the 1963 Plymouth Fury / Dodge 440
and early 1964 Plymouth Fury / Dodge Polara. In May 1964 Chrysler Canada
introduced the Plymouth Sport Fury and Dodge Polara 500. These cars were
"H" (not "P") series, used Fury/Polara dash and door panels with Sport Fury
seats. The exterior trim was the same as the U.S. Sport Fury and Polara
500.

One more thing. The standard engines in all 1963-64 Canadian Plymouths and
Dodges were either the 225 slant six or 313 V8. Yes, you could get a 1964
Sport Fury or Polara 500 convertible with a slant six. Same with the 1965
Sport Fury and Monaco convertibles.

(The 1963 Dodge series in Canada were - 220, 330, and 440. No Polara in
Canada in 1963)

Subject: american vs canadian polaras

I know there are cosmetic differences between american and canadian 64
polara 2dr ht. I was once told that the dash on a canadian is actually a
fury dash. Looking at the on on ebay it has different side view mirrors
and locations and also the extra chrome things directly behind the rear
window on both sides. STrange looking. What other sorts of differences
are there? Or where could I look to find out. I sure would prefer a red
one like shown on ebay but am kind of leary of differences between the
two. There must be some mechanical diffs too.
