Hi Don,
Thanks for the reply.
I put a new intake manifold on my 440 and reused the old tin pan gasket
(it only had 5 hours on it).  Only one tube is glowing so maybe it's a
leak on the manifold?  I assume this could also be causing my bog off
the line?

is caused by lean condition. if on one tube only then check for a vacum
laek  on carb or manifold . if it is general rejet thecarb. 
many carbs are too lean expecially for our air up here. usually 2 to 4
jet sizes is required to get it right.
