The grille in a '64 Plymouth is anodized aluminum. Period.  I recently 
went through hell, communicating with many metal restorers about it.  
Further, if you want to polish it, you MUST remove the anodizing to do 
so.  But if you don't have it put back, you'll have to maintain the 
polish, lest it corrode.

I have no idea what the grill is made of on a '64 Dodge, however.
