I had a similar situation on an 440 "A" body race car. The header
primaries came very close to the master cylinder. It woud actually get
the fluid hot enough that on one occassion I had virtually no brakes on
the big end. That'l make you pucker. In the words of Bugs Bunny "be
vewy vewy careful" when it comes to brakes.

I just installed a master power brakes man/disc conversion pkg on my 63
spt fury
conv. I
am very concerned about the 1 in clearance between the master cylinder
and the
max wedge
exhaust manifold. The car has a modified krammers automotive heat
shield that
works/looks okay.
I checked the exhaust manifold and master temps with a thermal heat
gun.
Manifoild = 650
master = 150. The outside temp was 45 deg. My engine stuff. 440 ,10.5
comp,
600 solid, 6pak. 4.10
gears , stage 5 iron heads.
question ?
Would headers lower my engine compartment temps? { the engine does
not run
