RE: 741

Robert,

I have a friend of mine I race with that has a 741/4:10's with slicks
in a 64 Belve. He runs high 11's low 12's (we are at 4500 ft). He
has been running a 741 for years. Never hurt it.

Hi Don

I've been pondering about this for a while now, thinking our 741 is our weak
link. Do you think we'll be ok when it comes to 1/4mile time to stick with
our 741? It has Sure-Grip, 3.91's & 450hp / 470 lb-ft going thru it when the
throttle is applied.
We've no plans to use slicks so launches shouldnt be toooo stressful....

Thanks

Robert

the same flange size (some are coarse and some are fine but dia is the

of the shaft down stream from the smallest area ? Not really the flange
spline is the smallest area and there for the weakest and it is the same for
them all. Also many other diffs we consider superior are not a lot thicker
and some are thinner.. If I had all three and had to buy gears then I will
be honest and say I would use the 489 but if I had a 41 case and a set of
gears which is exactly my situatiojn i would use them in a second. and did
32000 miles ago.
