Re: Manifold/header comparisons PART of the answer

I would guess the cam used determined the optimum rpm.
The engine used was a stock style rebuid 440 Magnum with 850 Holley, Holley Street Dominator intake, and ported MP Stage V heads, with a CompXtreme Energy 274 degree cam (.488 intake/ .491 exhaust)with a complete Comp valvetrain . (With stock 906 heads and stock valvetrain the engine produced 464 hp at 5400 rpm and 523 ft-lbs a 3800 rpm.)
With the Stage V heads and Hooker 1 7/8 Headers it produced 500.6 hp at
5400 rpm /538.1 ft.lbs at 4200 rpm as compared to 492.3 hp at 5400 rpm / 536.7 ft.lbs at 4200 rpm with the Hedman Elite 1 3/4 Header as noted in my last post.

I'm just curious: Why did all three reach peak HP at the same RPM? I'm not doubting the magazine; it just seems odd. Any engine builders out there?

Polecat
