On many of the TV shows such as "Overhaulin", my favorite, they have 
redone seats. They have used foam that has different firmness by gluing 
two different density foams together to get the proper support, 
durability and softness. If you used all the same foam
 your butt would probably drag sooner than your back  and the front of 
the seat would start sagging, etc.. I know they did use several 
different types of foam.
