RE: Cast iron repair

Don D. is using a 426 marine block in his '63. The marine block itself
is cool.

There may be issues with excessive internal rust in a marine engine but
if you are using it for a core to rebuild you'd have a machine shop
clean it up well anyway.

If you want to drop a long block marine in there are other issues like
the proper rotation (some are right hand, requiring a cam & timing gear
change and some crankshaft machining on the rear seal surface) and a
re-balance for left rotation engines. Other issues like water pump etc.
may exist, I can't recall.

Some people report success having a machine shop repair a crack in the
block. Depending on the size some say block sealer like Moroso Ceramic
seal works well. When in doubt it may be better to put the money &
effort toward a non-cracked block. 2c

Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person. I.e., send parts/car transactions and negotiations as well as other personal messages only to the intended recipient, not to the Clubhouse public address. This practice will protect your privacy, reduce the total volume of mail and fine tune the content signal to Mopar topic. Thanks!
