Bill,

Here's what they wrote:
"DaimlerChrysler Archives does have an IBM build card for your car.
However, we do not have a decoding sheet for that year.

There are several options available:
a. Purchase a photocopy of the IBM card and selling dealer name and
location - $45.
b. Purchase a photocopy of the IBM card only, no decoding, no dealer info -
$25.
c. Cancel the order

I have enclosed a build record order form for your convenience and am
returning your check."
(2 order sheets were enclosed)
<end quote>

>From the above, Chrysler Archives do not have a decode sheet for your car,
and thus cannot decode the build record (or IBM card - same thing).

Thus, selection
a), for $45 get build record/IBM card with dealer info but no decode info
b) for $25 get build record/IBM card with no dealer or decode info.
c) send your money back

If it is for a 1965 Dodge Coronet, ask for the $25 deal with build
record/IBM card and no decode. I will not be able to give you any dealer
info, but the rest of the card I should be able to decode for you.

The Chrysler build record was recorded on an IBM card during the 1960's, and
thus "build record" and "IBM card" are the same thing. And they are
recorded on microfilm, from which DCA provides the photocopies.

In the scenario from your last email below, you have two choices :
a), for $45 has build record/IBM card with dealer info but no decode info
b) for $45 has build record/IBM card with decode and dealer info.

Not the same as your original quote.

In the second case, you spend only $45 - take a choice between a) or b).
Both get you the build record/IBM card.

If the choice DCA gave you ($25 or $45) is not on the order form, ignore the
order form, write them a letter back stating your wishes, and mail your
letter with a photocopy of their letter back to them.

Thanks for the breakdown. It's a 65 Coronet 500 convertible. From what
I can tell I'm not getting any break. I'm getting "Photocopy of IBM
card & selling dealer info (no decoding) $45". The other option was
"Build Record - 1930-1967 w/ decoding, if available (includes dealer
info) $45"...same $...less info from what I can tell, unless it would
cost me $90 for build records & a. IBM card...dunno.

I saw we had fender tag and certicard decoding info listed on the
wonderful website, but what about build sheet codes? Are the same as
anything else? Totally different?
