Re: turn signal/parking lights help

My son had a 66 Dart and the parking lights turned off when the headlights were turned on. I had a 67 Satelitte and IIRC the parking lights turn off when the headlights were turned on. I'm thinking the change was 68.

The change was later than that. My '65 turns off the park lights, and who cares if you look like a motorcycle? The point is that you're seen and can see.

The guru is Daniel Stern, he's in the vendor pages.
I believe he wrote that up to '64, parking lights went off when headlights
went on.
It wasn't until '65 that they changed that, because you could look like a
motorcycle at night.
He has a fix on his website to change this I believe.
I bought a whole kit of halogens and extra bright stop/tail/turn/plate bulbs
and relays and stuff from him last winter for my 64 4d belvedere but got
spooked by all the diagrams (but I have an uncle who's a wiz at this) so I
haven't attempted the changeover yet but check with him via the vendor
pages.

I agree.? the feature of running the parking lights when the headlights are lit is a 70's and newer thing.? a 64 should not have parking lights lit when
the headlights are on.

Wayne,
On my '64 Belvedere, when I switch from parking lights to headlights,
the parking lights go off. I believe that is the way the switch is
designed...Brian

I am looking for some input. The turn signals were working when I got
the car last year. Now I think I have been driving all summer and spring

with no front turn signals.
Last night I replaced the turn signal receptacles or sockets and bulbs.
They were badly corroded and one was actually missing the bulb, (thanks
to the body shop when they removed the bumper I think).

This is what happens:
1.When the headlight switch is in the parking light position they work.
Also when the parking lights are on only one turn signal works.
2.When the headlights are completely off the turn signals work.
3.When the headlights are on the turn signals work but no parking lights

at anytime.
Note:

Taillights work fine, never had the back-up lights working yet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
