diff seal

hi, i'm trying to replace a leaky diff seal & cant get the nut holding the yoke off. basicly cant get the car high enough to get under with a long enough bar to undo the nut. i'm guessing the nut is a right hand thread?. would putting heat on it help?, or cause damage? trying to avoid a trip to the mechanic as we're on a short income, plus i'm a tight arse. done it before on other cars no problem, but this one is beating me. on another note just put my re-arced leaf springs, new poly bush set, & rear shocks on, & am very happy. sitting level & an annoying squeek in the rear end has gone. next weekend will start on the front suspension & steering.cheers, richard.
