to clarify you need only fax a copy of the title to the American border
station 72 hrs before crossing back into Canada / there is no way for the
purchaser to even see the copy of the title till he shows up with the
original/the Americans file by vin number/ the 72 hr thing is to allow the
American border service to check for liens and stolen vehicles . if they are
not too busy they may be able to process faster. i know because i came back
across at pembina nd with a new quad at 3.00 pm today

In this day and age of treachery via scams, particularly in our hobby
area, I've grown a bit leary of sales involving borders.
I'm currently selling my Valiant and the prospective buyer, whom I just
spoke to, told me in order for him to get the car into Canada (Ontario) he
must fax the car title at least four days in advance to authorities there.
From that point he would personally arrive, give me cash, pick the car up,
and head back to Canada. I would provide him the original title at the
point where he picked the car up.
My only hestitation is faxing a copy of the title to him? Anyone see
another way of doing this, or have you done it in the past? Thank you for
your assistance in this matter.
