Re: Good Weekend at Carlisle

I drove my '65 Belvedere there. It's a 600 mile round trip at 10.5 mpg on premium fuel. Lots of thumbs up both way from passer-bys. Fun to know it can do that and still turned sub-8s at the Quarter Aces track Friday night. That may be it's last drive there. Next year, for sure, a '65 Satellite convertible with A/C. Maybe 15 mpg or more.

After hearing all of the responses I came to a serious realization...I really need to make sure that I can bring one of my cars next year. I mean I brought and "showed" my Charger R/T but showing a late model just isn't the same. The new car side is a different world. I just don't fit in with their "clicks" and at our hotel kinda got looks from classic Mopar guys like, "Damn new Charger driving punk!" If they only knew. You just don't get the attention and respect and have the fun at a car show without an old car. My '64 Fury will make it up next year come hell or high water or if I have something even cooler to drive! The only good thing about taking the Charger, mind you I love that damn car, was the drive up and back getting 24.5 mpg (3/4 of a tank on the trip from NC), Sirius sat radio, and cruise control...oh yeah and the power of that 5.7 Hemi! Getting back to my point, I saw such cool '62-'65 Mopars and all I could say was, "I have one like that at home." I am tough, I mean I am one of those guys that used to drive my car to shows and couldn't understand people who didn't. I guess I got older, that sucks!!!!!!!! Rick Rice
