Re: Overheated coil

It could be the electronic ignition box itself too Cameron. I had a couple of Mopars over the years that were doing exactly what you describe. In both cases I replaced the orange box and no more problems.

I replaced it but still does it. Everything I've read points to the voltage regulator putting out too much. I know I adjusted a couple of years ago and put in electronic ignition last year. Would having an old style regulator rather than electronic cause problems?

The last three times I have been out on the road more than 30 minutes the coil has superheated causing the ignition to fail. It turns over but no spark. If I wait an hour it starts up. Any suggestions as to why this in now happening?
