C body headrs

Just a tip. Modifying heades to fit is often far less work that we realize. In most cases it is only one or two pipes that need moving. Slice and mark the piece with a sharpie to indicate its alignment. Tack weld Then test fit. (A couple of header bolts will suffice.) When you sure it is right remove and weld it.If your welding is not that good have a pro do it. Probably 10 to 20 bucks would cover his welding but often a cup of coffee anda box of donuts wil be the best money you could ever invest.
My ol pal Wager and I put a set of ford F100 390 headers on a stroked Poly in his 66 fury. He bought the flanges off ebay . In truth we didnt spend much more than a couple of half hearted days doing it. They fit perfect. With headers designed for the same engine and the same manufacturer of automobile it should be a piece of cake. If you calm your self down and tell youself time is not an issue it becomes fun to overcome these potentially annoying obstacles. Maybe that doesnt interest you. I am only offering it as an encouragement.
My first set of headers i reworked.?
Back in the day (yup, Here we go agian ;>) i had built a 69 Dart with a 426 hemi. A friend Tom Finkle brought me from Hershey swap or Carlisle three single Hooker 426 race headers. Two left side and one right side. All brand new and he paid $25 for each single header. So there I was a poor stuggling racer holding the very best headers the world had to offer for a measily $75.
I sensed opppourtunity knocking. they were not Dart headers. They were B Body. Right side fit perfect , no mods.
left side needed 1, One lousy pipe moved. I sliced it in 13 places and installed it and moved sliced pipe around like a slinky till it fit perfect. I removed it gas welded up all the slots. It took about 1/2 day and voila there I was with a set of HOOKER adjustable 426 Hemi race headers.
Since that day doesnt quite fit has been for me a non issue. In fact my 63 MW has the headers from Old Reliable (74 charger 440 ) on it. Adjustments were minor . I would if I had them off make a couple of changes (I have however driven them now over 33,000 miles on this car) but reworking headers is not a big deal.
