Re: Removing leaf springs?

when I had my springs re-arched the first question they asked me was,
'how high do you want it?', after going back out to my car with a tape measure, +3" was needed to bring the rear of my wagon up high enough so when loaded it rides level. I haves heavey duty springs (7 leafs), in my wagon, so re-arching was recommended over brand new ones. had it done over 15 years ago and haven't lost a bit of height.

OK, another question about doing things most of you guys can do in
your sleep. But I'm always learning and someday I'll be answering
instead of asking ;)

I'm going to have the leaf springs on my 63 Polara 500 re-arched. Any
advice on the re-arching? The shop was recommended to me by a guy
from my local Mopar club.

Any advice on removing and/or installing? I've never done it before,
but I can save some coin doing it myself. I'll follow the manual, but
you guys always seem to have some undocumented tips.

As always, thanks.

P.S. I'll start hitting the nuts with some P.B. Blaster first thing
tomorrow and every day after.

Yep, put lot's of PB Blaster on the nuts for the shackles. I'd try the
axle/spring hanger nuts but if they are bad/hard at all I'd break out
the Saw-Z-All and just cut them free. I did that on mine. They were too
rusty and deteriorated anyway. They aren't that expensive and they are
kinda important. The U-bolts are easy to obtain almost anywhere.
Actually I replaced my shackle bolts too as they were eaten up and nasty also. I took my old bolts to the local nut/bolt store and they were able
to match me up some grade 8 stuff that was perfect. It's one of the
easier jobs actually.
