I installed a trans temp gauge in my Satellite and was surprised/shocked at the temp. I started out as u...water temp rised to 180 and thermostat opened ...as supposed to. Make sure u stay with a full flow thermostat !!

Trans temp would continue to rise and in time water temp also. Makes since....Transtemp settled down about 240 degrees...and could not keep the water temp down in stop and go traffic

I installed Derale Cooler from Summit DER 13730. Cost $110. The only place for me to mount it was under the car between the fuel tank and back bumper. Piped it with braded hose. Put in an on/off toggle switch. (do not think u really need it unless u live in a really cold climate) My trans temp now runs between 240 and 260...depending on how roudy I am. Been told by trans people this is normal operating range. You are supposed to be ok up to 300 degrees.....if u exceed this, .may have trans slippage... u will need to go to a snythectic trans fluid.

Now its A/C on all the time...problems over...love being cold !!!!!!!! Happiness is my 440 runing between 180-195......might hit 210 in worse case but will cool right down when traffic starts moving

I agree with all that has been said about a smaller water pump pully......I had done that to. Another option is a high preformance water pump that will pump more at a low RPM. They run about $80.

I have a '69 Coronet 500. 383HP, 727 Auto, A/C car.  It  runs a little
hotter than I would like, however I have not made any changes from
stock just yet.  For a first step,  I was going to drop in a fresh 180
degree thermostat, new coolant, and hoses while I'm at it.  Your
comments made me curious about disconnecting the trans cooler from the
radiator, it makes sense.  My car warms up to a good steady temp in
the first 5-8 minutes as you would expect.  Then it starts to climb on
warmer days to another plateau, I'm assuming that's my 727 getting
fully warmed up, and the demand for cooling it brings.  What cooler
did you go with, where did you install it, route the lines, etc...   I
look forward to your comments from your experience.

Running a 2600 cu ft per minute electric fan and A/C and full flow 180 thermostat.
