Re: 205-75 15 tires

Gary,

Not sure if "the look" is of huge concern - a relative skinny tire (205) on a relatively wide rim (7") may work, but may not look the part. I agree with Dan's suggestion on the wider 215 (or more) for use with a 7" rim. Myself, I try to run a narrower rim on a wider tire to try and get some of that "bulged" look. Granted, it may not be the very best scenario for the tread contact patch, but it looks better (more original) IMO and works well enough. I guess it all just depends on what you are trying to achieve and what your priorities are.

FYI, my '62 had all four original factory wheels on it when I got it, and they were 14 x 5.5.

Just a thought.

Thanks. Will the smaller 205-75 fit on a 15x7 steel wheel?

Is that what you are using, Steve?

Thanks,
Gary H.

I have 215/65/15 up front and 275/60/15's on the rear of my 63 Polara.

I concur. After much hemming and hawing I went with a 205/75-15 on the
front with a 15x5 steel rim and a 255/70-15 on the rear with a 15x7 steelie.
